The Department of Information Technology was established in the A.Y 2007 with initial intake of 60 students with specific Vision, Mission and Outcomes. Intake was increased from 60 to 180 in the A.Y 2022-23. The Department of Information Technology is accrediated by NBA for 3 years i.e., upto 30.06.2027. From the day college was affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) and recognized by AICTE, New Delhi the department works under the Rules and Regulations of JNTUH and AICTE. The course curriculum and Syllabus proposed by the parent university will be implemented strictly. However, if required the department proposes modifications or inclusions of new courses into the curriculum to the JNTUH for consideration.
We implement Effective Teaching–Learning Methodologies and their evaluation procedures as per the guidelines of JNTUH, AICTE, Academic Council (AC) and Department Advisory Committee (DAC). Excellent infrastructural facilities and state of the art labs have been established.
1. To support and guide the students for their progress, Mentoring and Counseling Methodologies are being implemented.
2. Quality improvement programs like Refresher Courses, Seminars, Workshops, Skill Development Courses and Conferences are being conducted for Faculty, Technical Staff and Students.
3. Encourage students to register Certification Courses like NPTEL, Coursera, Google, IBM, Microsoft etc...
Different Committees have been formed to develop the leadership qualities both in faculty and students which proved to be very effective in the administration of the department. In addition, the department has tie-ups with various Renowned Industries and Research Forums through which our students occupy positions of eminence in the computer industry. Our Alumni remain in constant touch with us and are contributing in the development of the department. Placements for our graduates are the best in the Institute.

A. MREC Academics:
Malla Reddy Engineering College (Autonomous) has its own automation system www.mrecacademics.com for supporting Students, Faculty, Examination Branch and Admin Section. The automation system is dynamically connected with college website: www.mrec.ac.in.
B. Student Dashboard
The Student supporting system includes Students dashboard for connecting to online classes, online attendance, submission of assignments, student’s feedback with respect to teaching and facilities provided in the college. Students have access to E-content which includes, Study material and Lecture videos. Students submit assignments through their dashboard, which are assessed by the concerned faculty members.
C. Faculty Dashboard
Faculty dashboard is designed for taking online classes and capturing attendance of students during the online classes. Facility is available for uploading the content and study material developed. This material can be downloaded by the students from their dashboard or college website. Students submitted assignments are evaluated online. Provision for updating faculty research achievements and their contributions is included in their dashboard. For assessment of the faculty for every academic year, self-appraisal form is designed which interconnects the academic results, research contributions, extra-curricular activities, roles and responsibilities, students feedback and HoDs remarks.
D.Examination Dashboard
Examination dashboard has question bank manager, assessment manager and online evaluation system. The Question banks uploaded by the faculty members are used for preparing the online and offline examinations. Questions are selected randomly from the question banks and disseminated to the students for taking the online exams through MREC exams. The external examinations are conducted and evaluated online and through the automation system, for evaluation and declaration of results.
